Commission Process

Please note: I am not taking new commissions at this time. However, you can email me directly at hello@fineartbyjess.com with any questions or comments you have!

I offer three sizes:

  • Small*: 8 x 10 inches
  • Medium: 11 x 14 inches
  • Large: 16 x 20 inches

If you prefer a custom size, please contact me for a quote!

I offer three mediums:

  • Oil Painting: People only
  • Colored Pencil Drawing: Animals only
  • Charcoal Drawing: People and Animals (Black & White)

Step 1: Choose Your Size & Medium 

*Not available for oil paintings

Please check my photograph guide to help you take or choose the perfect photo.

Some important things to keep in mind:

A portrait is only as good as the photo provided. Your reference photo(s) must be as clear as possible. Consider lighting, camera distance, and picture quality of your reference photos.

Provide a few reference pictures. The more pictures I have, the more accurate the colors and details will be in the finished artwork. Include the specific picture you want me to reproduce as well as a few extras of your subject (if possible).

If you are unsure which photo(s) to choose, I’m happy to help you decide! Please email me your photographs and we can discuss them together.

Step 2: Choose Your Reference Photo

Please note:

Turnaround time depends on the complexity of your portrait and how many orders I have.

If you have a deadline you need your portrait by, please let me know the specific date. I’ll do my best to accommodate. It’s best to order well in advance as there may be a waiting list.

I’ll get in touch with you to confirm the estimated turnaround time for your portrait.

Step 3: Contact Me For A Quote 

Once we have confirmed your order, you’ll need to secure your spot in my waiting list with a down payment.

You can either pay in full or place a deposit of 50% of your total. If you choose the 50% deposit plan, the remaining balance will be due after the portrait is complete.

When your initial payment is received, I will send you a confirmation email and you’ll be added to my waiting list!

I accept PayPal, Venmo, and check.

I will contact you when I begin your portrait. I’ll also keep you updated throughout the creative process!

You will also see your portrait on my social media pages.* Feel free to comment and share!

*If your portrait is a surprise/gift for someone, I will not post it on social media until it is received. Please let me know if this is your preference.

When your portrait’s finished, I’ll email a photo for your approval.

At this stage, you may request minor adjustments before it’s shipped.

If you chose the 50% deposit plan, your final payment is due.

I cannot make any more changes after your portrait ships.

Before shipping, I mat and mount my portraits to ensure they arrive in perfect condition.

I will provide you with the tracking information as soon as it’s available.

Delivery usually takes 3 to 5 business days depending on your state and country.
